Drop what you are doing and do this now:  a simple exercise, log onto your computer and get onto googles search engine punch in your business name. What happens? Did your business show up as the top search result? Is your website first?

Do you own all the real estate on the first page for search results or at least 80% of it?

Are you saying to yourself who cares? Let me tell you who should care…..YOU. I will get back to why in a minute!

Switching gears, when is the last time you when to your yellow pages to look up a restaurant or business before going to google? Guess what, your customers are going to google first more than 90% of the time too! If you do not have a website, or even a landing page you are letting google kill you. You may be even compounding the problem by paying for a yellow pages ad that no one is looking at!! The bottom line is that you have to pay for yellow pages and the search results you get on google can be FREE. Now do you care?

Doesn’t it stand to reason that you want to be in front of your prospects eyeballs?

Get on google’s 1^st page search results and watch your sales go up and marketing costs go down.

You can’t get cheaper than FREE.

This is my Google search for Fude on April 10th

I have attached a screen shot of what you may have seen if you Google fude. Just that one word, that is what you get. Now the question is what happens when you Google your restaurant?

What do you see? What do your clients see? I am first on the page with a Google map and my website is 2nd. This is powerful.

Ask yourself do you ever look on the 2nd page of Google?

I have a confession to make, I, Chris Fougere, am the fudedude! There I said it, maybe not is climactic as I’ m Batman, but it is something!

As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I own my very own restaurant. Go ahead and google it.

Just type in fude into the search bar. Now I could have put the link here but I want you to see what happens when you Google it, we are going to talk about that on my next post.

Any how I have been the fudedude for 8 years since I opened my restaurant. I wanted to have a place that had great food but was not snooty or uptight. I wanted to have an element of  humor and playfulness.

It is always a question of trust. Why should you listen to anyone?

I am sure you have felt in your time as in independent restauranteur that you were isolated and alone. No one to speak to about things, no one would understand. I have lived that as well.

I am certain that you have worked in your current restaurant or past restaurants up to 80 a week and have not paid yourself! Sounds familiar.

I am certain that you have felt you had no time for yourself, much less family and friends….been there done that(not happily mind you)

I am sure you have had credit cards maxed out, lines of credit to the hilt, and loans with family or maybe like me had to re-mortgage your house……..I have done all this and it sucked!

There is no need to go thru most of what I went through but what can I say, I am a slow learner…..

As we go along in these weeks or months I will share some of the things I have learned and if you can avoid some of those mistakes that will help make me think those tough times were more worth it!
